Admission Requirements
To gain admission into the Duke Physician Assistant Program, you must meet specific requirements outlined by the program. To be eligible for admission, you must have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution. College seniors are also eligible to apply, as long as they receive their degree before the August starting date of the program. In addition, the program requires applicants to have completed 8 prerequisite courses within 10 years prior to the application year. These courses include Anatomy and Physiology, Microbiology, two other biology courses, and two chemistry courses.
GRE scores are mandatory for admission, and they must be taken between January 1, 2020, and September 1, 2024. The scores should be reported directly from ETS to CASPA, the centralized application service for physician assistant programs.
Furthermore, a minimum of 1,000 hours of patient care experience is necessary for admission. It’s important to note that direct, hands-on patient contact is required for the experience to be considered. Pass/fail courses with a grade of Pass are accepted, and no distinction is made between pass/fail and graded courses in the application process.
